Bio
Yvonne Kaburu is the Donor & Community Engagement Strategist, where she works to build meaningful relationships with donors, community partners, and supporters who are passionate about advancing the ACLU of Nebraska’s mission. She enjoys connecting with people and believes that strong relationships are the foundation of lasting community impact. Before joining the organization, Yvonne served as a Community Engagement Coordinator at the Women’s Center for Advancement in Omaha, leading outreach efforts, building partnerships and supporting fundraising initiatives. She also helped plan and execute major fundraising events, including a signature luncheon for more than 800 attendees, while managing donor communications and stewardship efforts. Yvonne received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in Criminal Justice. She also holds a Paralegal Certificate from Metropolitan Community College.
Outside of her professional work, Yvonne is an active civic leader with a strong commitment to community engagement and public service. She has served as Advocacy Chair for the Urban League of Nebraska Young Professionals, contributed to the Greater Omaha Chamber Young Professionals Summit Planning Committee, graduate of the first cohort of MyCity GO held in collaboration with Greater Omaha Chamber and CIRA (Center for Immigrant & Refugee Advancement) and completed both the Weitz and Lozier Summer Policy Training and the Nebraska Civic Engagement Table Lobby School. She is also an alumna of the Women’s Fund of Omaha Circles program and the Nonprofit Association of the Midlands Rising Leaders Institute.
