The inscription on the Nebraska State Capitol puts it beautifully: “The Salvation of the State is Watchfulness in the Citizen.”
This year, the ACLU of Nebraska is partnering with trusted civic health and voting rights organizations to lead efforts recruiting and training ballot count watchers and legal observers ahead of the Nov. 3 statewide General Election. We need your help ensuring that every eligible voter can vote, that ballots are fairly counted, and that the will of voters is respected.
Our goal is to have community volunteers in as many counties as possible. Having people from communities across the state participate helps ensure voters can see that their elections are being carried out carefully, accurately, and with the respect every voter deserves. If you know someone who would be interested in helping out, invite them to join this effort.

About the ACLU’s Election Protection Work
For years, the ACLU of Nebraska has played a leading role in protecting Nebraskans’ voting rights and encouraging every eligible voter to make their voice heard. This year, the ACLU is making its largest-ever investment into election safeguarding during a midterm cycle. This election safeguarding work will strengthen the state and local institutions that are the backbone of free, fair, and trusted elections in the United States, ensuring they can operate independently, professionally, and free from improper interference. We are proud to be supporting this work in Nebraska alongside trusted partners.
