Bio
Rae Wulf Schmidt serves as the ACLU of Nebraska’s first Paralegal, bringing more than a decade of experience in court operations and workers’ compensation law to her work with the organization. Before joining the ACLU, she worked at the Nebraska Workers’ Compensation Court, where her work centered on case management, legal editing and proofreading, and developing processes and procedures for the Clerk’s Office. Her years in the Court gave her a practical understanding of the legal system and the people who rely on it.
Rae graduated summa cum laude from Oregon State University with a post-baccalaureate bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, concentrating in Conservation and Sustainability. As a Nebraskan, she is especially passionate about environmental justice for Nebraska’s communities and about protecting civil rights and civil liberties. For Rae, environmental justice is personal—these are her communities, and these are her neighbors.
Outside of her legal work, Rae and her family make community service part of their lives, volunteering with Lincoln Parks and Recreation, the City of Lincoln Marathon, and Friendship Home. She is also a Nebraska Notary Public and holds a CPI Blue Card certification from the Crisis Prevention Institute.
