LINCOLN, Neb. – Today, five partnering Nebraska advocacy organizations launched a new website that will serve as a central hub for people who want to take action to keep abortion legal in Nebraska.

The website, NebraskansForAbortionAccess.com, includes Nebraska state senators’ contact information, social media graphics and a form that lets volunteers sign up to attend rallies, testify before the Nebraska Legislature or share their own stories about abortion.

The project is a collaboration between the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Nebraska, I Be Black Girl, Nebraska Abortion Resources (NEAR), Planned Parenthood Advocates of Nebraska and Women’s Fund of Omaha.

The website marks an evolution of the groups’ ongoing partnership to protect abortion access in Nebraska. Earlier this year, the organizations supported grassroots efforts to defeat a total trigger banMarch polling on abortion rights in Nebraska found that a majority of Nebraskans opposed the ban. Likewise, a majority of Nebraskans wanted Roe v. Wade to remain the law of the land.

Although abortion remains legal in Nebraska today, anti-abortion politicians have been open about their plan to seek a total abortion ban. Advocates say the new website will help keep abortion rights supporters informed and engaged in any legislative face-offs to come.

These partnering Nebraska organizations have issued the following statements.

“This new website is for the majority of Nebraskans who understand that decisions about abortion belong to patients, not politicians. As we continue to see the devastating impacts of other states’ extreme total abortion bans, we know that so many Nebraskans are ready to do everything they can to prevent the same thing from happening here. Starting today, the best place for them to get started is NebraskansForAbortionAccess.com.” – Scout Richters, ACLU of Nebraska senior legal and policy counsel

“This collective effort is to ensure our main partners, the community, have access to accurate information and ways to engage to advocate for reproductive rights and justice in Nebraska on their terms. We are building a movement to ensure abortion care remains safe and legal for all Nebraskans.” – Ashlei Spivey, director, I Be Black Girl

“Abortion remains legal in Nebraska because people across our state continue to stand up for our right to make decisions about our own bodies and futures without political interference. The launch of this site is yet another step in ensuring that Nebraskans’ voices are heard and that we are able to come together to keep abortion safe and legal in our state.” – Andi Curry Grubb, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Nebraska

“As more people get engaged in advocacy efforts to keep abortion legal in Nebraska, we are determined to make that process as accessible as possible. It will take all of us working together to ensure that every Nebraskan can decide when, if and how to become a parent. If you want to be part of the movement working to protect the rights of all Nebraskans, join us at www.NebraskansForAbortionAccess.com.” – Erin Feichtinger, Women’s Fund of Omaha policy director

“Abortion is legal in Nebraska and we intend to keep it that way. This collective effort of our partners is an imperative step towards just that. We must harness this energy and momentum. We must stand up and let our voices be heard. No abortion bans, no restrictions! Join us in building collective power to keep abortion legal and accessible in Nebraska.” – Chelsea Souder, MPH, founder and director, Nebraska Abortion Resources (NEAR)
