Other Resources and Support for Refugees

Beyond information about legal rights, many local organizations provide support to refugees and new Americans. Learn about resources available throughout the state: Lancaster County Extension from UNL, Refugee Empowerment Center, Lutheran Family Services, Catholic Charities of Omaha, and Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska.

The ACLU has compiled a list of grassroots and partner organizations that are lead by or doing work in solidarity with refugees that you can follow on Twitter.

In addition to supporting the ACLU, consider starting a Facebook fundraiser or a Crowdrise fundraiser for a local organization that provides direct support to immigrants and refugees. If a local organization doesn't have a fundraising page through these or similar services setup, contact them directly to learn about how you can support their efforts.

Learn About Refugee and Immigrant Neighbors

In 2016, Nebraska led the nation in accepting refugees. Here’s some articles about refugees in Nebraska.

Speak Up in Support

Write a letter to the editor in support of immigrants and refugees. Mention that you support two resolutions in the Nebraska Legislature: LR 26 in support of Dreamers and LR 27 in support of immigrants and refugees and that you oppose the LB 505 which creates a refugee watch list.

You can also contact your senator and express support for these resolutions.
